Top Tip:
When replacing biological media it is important to remember that you are actually removing the homes of millions of bacteria that have been filtering the fish waste in your aquarium. It is always better to replace 50% of the media rather than all. Depending on the design this may mean using some of the old sponge either cut up or in the filter this will help the new media to become colonised with bacteria.

During this time it is best practice to reduce feeding by 50% you should also do regular water testing to make sure there is not a build up of dangerous ammonia or nitrite
