This Iwasaki lamp is a direct replacement for older style single ended Arcadia unit. It provides higher PAR output needed by photosynthetic corals than 10 k lamps and is particularly useful with shallow water hard corals and clams that appreciate both its spectrum and power. Being a lower kelvin rating the light has a more natural yellow sun cast this is often offset by the use of Actinic or 20k lamps. For many the combination of 20k and 6500k iwasaki is still the standard to beat for growth and coluration in SPS corals.
